The Christian Far Right has taken over the White House! After 8 years of the Obama Administration (which these Republican bigots termed ‘Pro Muslim’), church-attending Americans are now in the grips of a Christian fervor the likes of which haven’t been since the days of Cotton Mather. Fascist ideology has replaced good ol’ common sense, and Fox News is at the forefront of the fight against real democracy and freedom. The US has gone back in time to become a land of religious fanatics.
From Trump’s 20 January 2017 inaugural address:
The Bible tells us, “how good and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in unity.”
We will be protected by the great men and women of our military and law enforcement and, most importantly, we are protected by God.
And, Yes, Together, We Will Make America Great Again. Thank you, God Bless You, And God Bless America.
“Life is winning in America,” Pence said at a gala for the anti-abortion group Susan B. Anthony List. “President Trump has been keeping his promises to stand for life. He’s literally filled this White House and agencies with pro-life leaders.”
Jeff Sessions, Mr. Trump’s choice for attorney general, has said that the idea of a “wall of separation” between church and state “is not constitutional and is not historical.” He once attacked Justice Sonia Sotomayor for having a “postmodern, relativistic, secular mind-set” that is “directly contrary to the founding of our republic.” During Mr. Sessions’s confirmation hearing, Senator Sheldon Whitehouse, Democrat of Rhode Island, asked about his attitude toward the attorneys who will work for him at the Justice Department: “A secular person has just as good a claim to understanding the truth as a person who is religious, correct?” Mr. Sessions replied, “Well, I’m not sure.”
Gorsuch is the culmination of decades of the Christian far-right taking over the GOP and the seat he filled on the Supreme Court was the catalyst for the soft coup becoming overt in 2016 — it was not obvious at first — just typical Republican hypocrisy:
In 2016, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said: “One of my proudest moments was when I told Obama, ‘You will not fill this Supreme Court vacancy,’” and in 2017, he said, “Apparently there’s yet a new standard now, which is not to confirm a Supreme Court nominee at all. I think that’s something the American people simply will not tolerate.”
It is not always the ‘olive, tan, and brown-skinned’ Middle Eastern Muslims that commit acts of terror in the name of Allah and Islam, but often ‘white, beige, and pink-fleshed’ Americans of the Christian faith who do in the name of God and Jesus Christ. Groups like The Army of God, The Phineas Priesthood, Eastern Lightning, a.k.a. the Church of the Almighty God, and The Concerned Christians, for example. Extremism of any kind is dangerous but the most threatening kind of all involves religion. The ultra religious tend to be more fanatical anyway, so when beliefs of superiority, holier-than-thou attitudes, and an us-versus-them mentality are combined with faith, a potential for an explosion more readily looms. These fools take the Koran, the Bible, the Torah, and the Talmud very seriously. They cannot be reasoned with.
Take Trump supporters, for instance. You cannot reason with these people, I know from trying to talk to my fiance. He simply won’t be budged on the topic of Trump so I have given up trying. Why even waste my time and my breath? It just isn’t worth it. Brainwashed people are that way, they will not listen to your arguments because they totally believe that what they already think is right, even if it is not. The Trumpians are still holding out for the Wall to be built, employers to start firing illegal aliens (and the government to deport them all back to their countries of origin) and hire American citizens, a ‘better’ healthcare system to replace Obamacare, and all the other campaign promises Trump made to them, including to ‘bomb the shit’ out of ISIS and all the other Arab terrorists. What about those who are of the Christian faith?
I feel sorry for the United States and its people especially when I read the comments on social media.
